Product Overview:

ATM is a way to transmit information. It can handle voice, data, and video through a single network circuit. ATM offers you the fastest speeds available, and it's flexible enough to meet your specific needs.

ATM is currently available at speeds between 1.5 Mbps and 155 Mbps -- roughly 70 times the capacity of a DS1. In the future, ATM is targeted to reach 1 gigabit (1 billion bits) per second.

Because ATM transmits voice, data, and video, you no longer need separate dedicated lines for different types of traffic. ATM's flexibility means you can integrate it easily with your current network. You determine your own bandwidth and access needs, now and in the future. And, you never pay for what you don't use.

Product Overview

Businesses that require flexibility for use of diverse applications like personal computers, fax machines or video can look to BRI for superior performance compared to an analogue dial-up line. Telecommuting and the ability to access the Internet are simple and efficient with BRI. Business people who want the flexibility of working from home combined with the efficiency of working at the office can use BRI for the best of both worlds. One of the two 64kbps channels can be used for a regular phone line, and the other can be used for a personal computer to LAN connection.

Efficiently accessing Internet Web sites filled with graphics requires a higher bandwidth than what is available through phone lines that use analogue modems. With BRI, customers can enjoy speeds that are up to 10 time faster.
  • 64kbps or 128kbps speeds with one BRI service -- at a price much lower than dedicated data access service.
  • A Phone line and a 64kbps data line in one service charge
  • Access to most cities in Alberta (where distance to a TELUS CO supporting ISDN is within acceptable parameters)
  • Dial access to many other BRI locations in North America
  • Dial-up LAN to LAN at 128kbps speeds for short duration links
HIGHER SPEEDS (T1 - 1,44Mbps) if you use inverse Muxing to combine Multiple ISDN lines
  • Flexibility -- allowing users and IT Managers to tailor Connections to various locations at LAN or other link speeds by using different numbers of ISDN lines at different times.
  • Disaster Recovery linking to support sites or Back-up Data with Dial flexibility and ISDN speed options.

Product Overview

The ADSL VPOP (Virtual Point of Presence) Services are an integrated combination of routers, modems, and high-speed wide area networks that provide Internet Service Providers (ISPs) with bundled wholesale data communication service capabilities (or a virtual presence) for network and Internet access. The service is designed to give ISPs the ability to retail access services to their end-users without large capital dollar outlay or technical resources commitments for infrastructure technology. As a mission critical business service, ADSL VPOP Service delivers quality of service through service management and service level objectives.

The DSL VPOP Services are comprised of two unique service elements:
  • VPOP CO Access Service - mandatory requirement to connect the ISP to a xDSL POP (C.O.)
  • ADSL VPOP Access Services - consists of three types of access services that will connect end user customers to the ISP.
  • ADSL VPOP Consumer 1.5 Access Service
  • ADSL VPOP Professional 2.5 Access Service
  • ADSL VPOP SOHO 4 Access Service

The combination of these component services and other TELUS Advanced Communications Internetworking services enable ISPs to deliver new technologies and services to their end-customers in a fast and cost effective manner. The xDSL VPOP component services are described further below.

VPOP CO Access Service

This service provides a TELUS Advanced Communications connected ISP with connectivity to a TAC enabled VPOP CO/Wiring Center (Serving Area). From this VPOP serving location the ISP will be able to purchase one or more VPOP access services to connect to their end-customers. The VPOP Access is delivered over a 4Mbps virtual ATM circuit using standard RFC 1483 encapsulation method (bridging over ATM). In the future it is anticipated this will move to a routed solution using PPP termination equipment. Routing will take place ASAP in locations outside of an ISP's home center. When routed the Internet traffic will be aggregated with the ISP IP Premier Internet Gateway.

Standard Features:
